This is it then, the second and final part of our 2010 retrospective thingy. Fifteen tracks in no particular order from records you should own. Hopefully 2011 will follow in suit from this year and be equally good for new bands and brilliant music. By the way feel free to use our new forum. The link is on the right hand side of the screen. There's not much there yet but I'm hoping you'll help fill it up.

1. Tender Trap - Do You Want A Boyfriend (Fortuna Pop)
2010 saw the release of the third Tender Trap album. Amelia and the gang returned in the summer with what turned out to be a treat. I've mentioned before that Amelia seem incapable of penning a bad tune and "Dansette Dansette" is proof positive that that is the case. Unfortunately Tender Trap only seem to release albums every four years so we might have to wait until 2014 for the next one.
2. Tame Impala - Solitude Is Bliss (Micky Moonlight Remix) (Modular)
I have to be honest, I wasn't quite as impressed as the rest of the world with Tame Impala's "Innerspeaker" album which was released in May. Don't get me wrong I'm not saying it's a bad record or anything it just didn't stand out to me. Then I heard this. It's the Micky Moonlight remix of their "Solitude Is Bliss" single and is quite simply spectacular. For some reason every time I play it it puts me in mind of "Chlorine Dream" by Spirea X which is no bad thing at all.
3. Boy 8-Bit - From The Depths (Turbo)
Taken from the "Yard Birds E.P."
4. Four Tet - Nothing To See (Soul Jazz)
It's been a great year for Four Tet. Everything they touch turns to gold at the moment. We had the superb album "There Is Love In You" which will end up in plenty of end of year lists, a string of great singles and about a zillion remixes. This however is my favourite, it's taken from a 12" single released back in August which Four Tet share with Mala.
5. Abby GoGo - Louder Than Dreams (Double Phantom)
This was the first track we heard by Abby GoGo. The Atlanta band have since released their debut album which is well worth a sniff.
6. Big Troubles - Modern Intimacy (Olde English Spelling Bee)
Taken from the album "Worry" which was if memory serves released in September.
7. The Joy Formidable - I Don't Want To See You Like This (Canvasback/Atlantic)
The Joy Formidable spent most of 2010 on the road playing to excitable audiences all over the world as their profile seems to continue to get bigger all the time. The new album which they have been promising us for the last year or so is finally ready to go and will be released on 24th January. It's called "The Big Roar" and is described by the band as their debut album. For me "A Balloon Called Moaning" was, and will continue to be the debut but nevertheless I'm really looking forward to hearing the new record.
8. Sad Day For Puppets - Sorrow Sorrow (Sonic Cathedral)
This is a track which has been suggested by quite a few people. It's the opening track from the Swedish bands second album "Pale Silver and Shiny Gold" which was released on Sonic Cathedral in September.
9. No Age - Glitter (Sub Pop)
One of the most
eagerly awaited records of 2010 was the third album from Los Angeles noise merchants No Age. They had the uneviable task of making a record which was as good if not better than their 2008 classic "Nouns". their answer was "Everything In Between" which was just the job. Everything I was looking for anyway. This is the single which preceded the album and got us all a bit exited, well in my house anyway.
10. Trembling Blue Stars - All Our Tomorrows (Elefant)
This is one of my favourite tracks from what will be the final Trembling Blue Stars record "Fast Trains And Telegraph Wires".
11. Anna Bradley - Anna Bradley (Self Released)
Taken from the New York bands debut album "Pavo".
12. All India Radio - Lucky (Bad Panda)
Another gem pushed our way by the heavily overworked Bad Panda lot. This is simply a thing of total beauty.
13. Wounds - Losing Focus (Self Released)
Taken from the album "Winter Ambient Works" which you can download in full further down this page.
14. No Joy - Mediumship (Mexican Summer)
This is definitely up there with the very best records of the year. It's the debut album by No Joy and if you don't have a copy of this you really don't know what you're missing. The album is called "Ghost Blonde" and is pretty much perfect.
15. The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart - Heart In Your Heartbreak (Slumberland)
The final track then in this years round up comes from a band who are about to explode back into our presence with their second album "Belong" which I'm told will be released on 7th March. This is the first taster from it.
