Pod Fodder (Volume Seventy Five)

1. Ellen Allien - Flashy Flashy (Bpitch Control)
This is the first single from Ellen Allien's forthcoming debut album "Dust". It comes from a 12" which also contains a further three superb mixes and will be released on 22nd June.

2. Radiant Dragon - Preseli (Nowa Huta Remix) (Cloud Factory)
This is the Nowa Huta Remix of the new Radiant Dragon single Preseli. The London bands debut album will apparently be released in October through Cloud Factory.

3. Makaras Pen - Promises (Projekt)
This is a track from the Buffalo bands debut album which will be released in the US through Projekt on 8th June.

Cover art for My Love Will Follow Me by Vivian Girls
4. Vivian Girls - My Love Will Follow Me (Wild World)
I think this 7" has been around for a couple of months but I've only just got my clammy mitts on a copy. It's released through Wild World Records and limited to 1000 copies.

5. Teamforest - Blind (Bad Panda)
This weeks release from the Bad Panda Label

6. Broken Water - Hear (Night People)
This is a track from a brilliant debut album by Broken Water who celebrate out of Olympia, Washington. There are at least three or four tracks on here which should be in the end of year lists. I'll bet you a fiver that it doesn't happen though. The album is called "Whet" and is available now on vinyl or CD through Night People and if you pop over to their site you will find a plethora of information as top how go about furnishing yourself with one of these artefacts. I recommend the vinyl version to you because it's one of those sounds that works even better with a bit of surface noise for accompaniment.

7. DJ 19 & Moussa Clark - Acid Piano (DJ 19 Acid Rave Treatment) (19 Box)
Moussa Clark teams up with Tokyo's DJ 19 for a new 12" which will be released imminently through DJ 19's 19 Box label in Japan. There are six mixes of Acid Piano on the record and all of them are fine although this is one I keep coming back to.

Fucked Up - David's Plan
8. Fucked Up - David's Plan (Fucked Up)
This is one side of a 7" single which was released earlier this year in America and Canada. I must admit this is the first Fucked Up record I've heard but the catalogue number is FU 009 indicating at least eight earlier releases. The investigation begins... The other side of the record is a bit weird as it contains a cover of "Do They Know It's Christmas" which is just the sort of thing that sounds great in the middle of Summer although I suppose if you are reading in Australia it would seem quite normal.

9. I'm Not A Band - I'm Not A Band (Self Released)

Can't Feel Born
10. High Places - Can't Feel Nothing (Thrill Jockey)
This is the first track on a new 12" EP called "Can't Feel Born" which has just been released on Thrill Jockey. I assume you can purchase MP3's but what you really want is the vinyl edition which is pressed on what Thrill Jockey call "bad laundry" coloured vinyl which is a kind of off white with a hint of blue. There's only 1000 of them so don't hang around too long or you may never own a bad laundry coloured record.

Pod Fodder (Volume Seventy Four)

Product Details
1. The Hundred In The Hands - Tom Tom (Warp)
Taken from "This Desert EP" which will be released on 17th May through the mighty Warp Records of Sheffield.

2. Las Robertas - In Between Buses (Self Released)
This track comes from the debut album by Las Robertas which is called "Cry Out Loud" and can be downloaded in full HERE

3. Moonbeams - Am I Forgotten (Little Pocket)
Taken from the San Diego bands superb debut EP "In Transit".

4. Hi Tiger - Stop Believing (Bad Panda)
This is another of the seven fine Bad Panda releases from last week.

5. Cave - Hot Bricks (Drag City)
It's been ages since I last had a Drag City release to listen to. This is a track from the new EP by Cave. It's called Pure Moods and is released this week.

Product Details
6. The Wave Pictures - I Shall Be A Ditchdigger (Little Teddy Recordings)
Taken from the new album "Susan Rode The Cyclone" which was released last month in Germany through Little Teddy Recordings. I don't know if there are any plans afoot to treat the rest of the planet but you can probably buy it as an import.

16th June - London, Bush Hall
10th July Canterbury, Lounge On The Farm
13th August - Leicester, Summer Sundae Festival

7. Nac/Hut Report - Dead Steps (Self Released)
Taken from the album "9th Overflowing...Milky Slaughterhouse...Dream Of Incubator" which you can download for free from the bands Myspace page HERE

The Blanche Hudson Weekend ODD011 The Rats In The Cellar EP
8. The Blanche Hudson Weekend - Grip Of Fear (Squirrel)
I bought this record about a month ago but, I'm quite ashamed to admit, have only just got round to listening to it. This is the first track from what is the second 7" by The Blanch Hudson Weekend. It was released back in March but I think you can still order it from the Squirrel Records website.

9. The Flyin' Fuckin' A Heads - Swiss Cheese Back (De Stijl)
Before the other day I had never heard of The Flyin' Fuckin' A Heads and what a sad life I must have led. According to the press gubbings they were active around 1979/1980 (I was only a nipper then) but judging by the two tracks on this 7" they have certainly being overlooked. I read somewhere, possibly on the De Stijl records website that they recorded a live album and if that is the case I would love to hear it (small hint). This record can be ordered from HERE and will cost you six dollers. I presume they ship overseas but don't quote me on that.

10. Slutet - Psykbryt (Bad Panda)
Another strike from outside the area by the Bad Panda crew. This time it's a piece of pure loveliness from the superbly named Slutlet.

It's been a while since we had any My Bloody Valentine on Burning World so to put that right here is a decent recording from Germany back in 1989. There is every chance more MBV bootlegs might make their way on here over the next few months.

Pod Fodder (Volume Seventy Three)

1. (((Oh Dear - Rabbit Punch (Culture As A Dare)
This comes from a split 12" which (((Oh Dear share with The Hillmisters, a track from whom will probably appear in a future Fodder. It's being released through a new label from Southend on Sea which celebrates under the banner Culture As A Dare who have being putting on gigs around the area for the last couple of years. They are also releasing a split 7" featuring Plantman and Neon Harvest and both records can be purchased from the labels website.

Cover art for Catch As Catch Can/ Set It On Fire by Moon Duo2. Moon Duo - Set It On Fire (Agitated)
This is the b-side from a new 7" on Agitated Records featuring Moon Duo who are Ripley Johnson from Wooden Shjips and Sanae Yamada. The a-side is called "Catch As Catch Can" and is well worth tracking down not only for the wonderful noise it makes but also for the sleeve which is kind of 3D if you look at it for long enough and quite scary after a bottle of wine.

Schemes EP Cover Art3. Sea Exchange - LED (Self Released)
Taken from the "Schemes EP" which is actually not an EP at all but a fully fledged album which the band are kindly making available for free download from the bands Bandcamp site HERE

Pitch Twit 5 large copy4. Pitch Twit - Treatment (Original Mix) (Sic Outfit)
This apparently is the third single from Pitch Twit, unfortunately it's the first I've heard. It was released last week on is own Sic Outfit label and if you like the sound of this you can pop over to the Sic Outfit Soundcloud page where you can download the whole EP for free.

Product Details5. Shuttleworth (with Mark E. Smith) - Englands Heartbeat (Yip Yop)
Traditionally football songs are meant to be rather tedious and usually a bit embarrassing to be caught listening to and the very worst tracks are often reserved for England. To be honest I don't have a clue what our official song is this time but as far as unofficial songs are concerned how you can't really go wrong with this. It's a new single from Shuttleworth which also features the talents of Ed Blaney and his majesty Mark E. Smith. It will be released in early June as a seven inch single and the only real problem is the sleeve which along with the cover of the new Fall album is pretty awful.

Product Details6. Born Ruffians - Higher And Higher (Warp)
It's a strange thing. Just last week Mr Vincent was asking me if I had heard anything new from Born Ruffians since their "Red, Yellow & Blue" debut album a couple of years ago and less than a week later a new record puts in an appearance. The new album is called "Say It" and sounds a bit more stripped down than their earlier material. "Say It" will be released through Warp Records On 1st June

7. Fuck Buttons - Rough Steez (White Hot Heat Remix) (ATP)
This one almost passed me by. It's the fourth track on the "Olympians" single which has been around for about a month now and I'm ashamed to say I didn't know about it until last week. Blinding stuff as always but the two tracks on the b-side are particularly satisfying. You get a "Spaceman Vs The Olympians" remix of "Olympians" which is remixed by Jason Spaceman and it's followed by this beast which in it's original form was one of the highlights on last years "Tarot Sport" album. This version has been remixed by Suicide's Alan Vega and even has vocals!

8. Errnois - Happiness (Bad Panda)
This is one of six tracks Bad Panda records are putting out this week in celebration of... something or other. There's every chance a couple more of them could appear in next weeks Fodder.

Benga Phaze One9. Benga - Mini Moto Cross (Tempa)
I'm not sure of the exact release date for this but if it's not available now it soon will be. It's a new double 12" pack from Benga called "Phase One" and maintains the quality we have come to expect from Tempa Records.

10. The Month Of June - Call It Art (February)
This is the first track on a superb debut single by The Month Of June who as far as I can tell are basically Michael Murphy who used to trade as Manchester By The Sea. This is the title track from his debut release as The Month Of June. The rest of the EP can be found at the February Records website

The Joy Formidable - New York, The Mercury Lounge, 1st May 2010

A superb set from one of the most exiting bans around at the moment. They have just released their debut album "A Balloon Called Moaning" in the states through Black Bell Records and their second album is almost ready to hit the stores in the UK and Europe. I saw them a couple of time last year and they just seem to get better and better. Check out their Myspace Page for further details the European leg of their current tour.

Pod Fodder (Volume Seventy Two)

1. Captain Polaroid - The Same Rules Always Apply (Self Released)
You might remember I featured a track some time ago by Captain Polaroid which I think was from his "Point & Click" EP on Filthy Little Angels. This track comes from one of his older releases which until he sent me a bunch of stuff last week I had never heard. The Captain's new album is apparently almost finished and I will certainly be looking forward to hearing that.

Product Details2. Panda Riot - Julie (In Time) (Mirror Mirror)
This is from the new and eagerly awaited (at least in my house) new EP from Panda Riot. It's called "Far & Near" and will be released through Mirror Mirror on 11th May. It contains no less than six brand new songs from the Chicago three piece. You will not be dissapointed.

3. Collapse Under The Empire - Grade Separation (Self Released)
Taken from the album "The Sirens Sound" which will be available from 21st May.

Picnic (3) - Winter Honey4. Picnic - Shareware (Seksound)
Taken from the Estonia band's new album "Winter Honey" which is available now through Seksound.

A SLIGHT CHANGE OF LIGHT5. Television Keeps Us Apart - Parents House In '99 (Series Two)
This is a track from one of my favourite albums at the moment. I think the cats are probably sick of hearing it by now to be honest. It's a mini album called "A Slight Change Of Light" which was released on Series Two records last year. Unfortunately I missed it at the time and because only 300 were pressed it's quite likely I'll never find one but never fear, it is now available as a free download and can be found HERE

6. Trunks - Kniee (Are You Trunked)
I would love to tell you all about this EP but I've lost the e-mail that accompanied it so all I know that Trunks are a French band and this is this is one side of their current single. The other track is called "Journey To The Line" and is pretty sweet as well.

  7. Ras G - Discipline 09-2 (Leaving Records)
If there was a prize for record sleeve of the week this would win hands down. From the superb "El Alylien Part 1" EP. Looking forward to part 2 which will hopefully follow soon.

8. High Places - Constant Winter (Thrill Jockey)
Taken from the new album High Places Vs Mankind.

9. Oreaganomics - Throw Yer Son In The Washer And Watch Him Spin Around (Self Released)
This track is from a brand new Oreaganomics album called "The Red Velvet Sessions" which you can download for free from THIS PLACE, and I hope you do co this is the kind of gubbins I pods were made for.

10. Tender Trap - Girls With Guns (Fortuna Pop)
This is the first offering from the new Tender Trap album "Dansette Dansette" which will as far as I can make out be released sometime in July. As I'm sure you'll detect from this track Amelia Fletcher is still rather grumpy and long may she stay that way. Apparently there will be some tour dates in July to support the new album but if you can't wait that long and you live in London you can catch them at the Luminaire supporting The Dum Dum Girls on May 13th.
