Pod Fodder (Volume Sixty Nine)

1. The School - Let It Slip (Elefant)
This is the first track from the long awaited (by me anyway) debut album by The School. I saw them a few months ago in front of about fifteen people at The Basement in York and despite the poor turnout played superbly. The album is called "Loveless Unbeliever" and will be released through Elefant Records of Madrid on 31st May. This could well be one of the best records you'll hear this year.

2. The Depreciation Guild - Crucify You (Kanine)
"Spirit Youth" is the title of the second album by The Depreciation Guild and will be released through Kanine Records on 18th May.

581023. Scuba - On Deck (Hot Flush)
This is one of my favourite tracks on the new Scuba album which was released last week on Hot Flush. Scuba performed at fabric the other day and that is a set I would very much like to hear. Hopefully it will appear as one of those Fabric compilations at some point.

23rd April - Bristol, Applepips
28th May - London, Mount Kimbie album launch @ Plan B
3rd June - Dublin, Body Tonic
12th June - Newcastle, Heavyweight
19th June - London, Colony @ Rhythm Factory

4. My Tiger My Timing - On My Record Player (Demo)
New track by the London band who have a couple dates coming up.

14th April - Brighton, Play It By Ear @ Jam
22nd April - London, Breaking Rocks album launch @ Big Chill House

Taken from the new album "Speculation".

6. We Are Standard - The First Girl To Get A Kiss Without A Please (Mushroom Pillow)
Taken from the Spanish bands self titled debut album which will be released on 26th April.

7. Fjord Rowboat - We Are On Time (Promo)
One of my favorite tracks from the Canadian bands second album "Under Cover Of Brightness" which will be released on 15th June. I'm not entirely sure what label it will be on but well worth tracking down.

8. Viernes - Entire Empire (Kanine)
Taken from the album "Sinister Devices" which will  be released through Kanine on 8th June.

9. Dude Japan - The Storytellers (Rok Loc)
I've been waiting ages to get my mitts on one of these. Ever since I heard that rather impressive Weed Hounds demo last year. It's a 7" which Weed Hounds share with fellow Long Island residents Dude Japan. The Weed Hound track is very good but it's one of the two Dude Japan tracks which I want to share with you. If you want to be the owner of one of these superb platters you'll need to get over to the Rok Loc website without delay because if it hasn't already sold out it wont be far off.

10. Fort Fairfield - Always Hunted, Never Alone (Acustronica)
I was delighted this week to receive some new releases from the Acustronica label including a new E.P. by Fort Fairfield who if you've been paying attention you will know have been responsible for one of the best records of the year thus far in the shape of their awesome "The Dead Sea Scrolls". The new E.P. has the rather cumbersome title of "The Essential Thing Resists Telling E.P." but don't let that get in the way of a blinding set of tunes and best of all if you pop over to the Acustronica website before the 30th April you can download the whole E.P. for free!!!
