Playlist 49

Who would have thought it. 2008 and old time renegade Nick Cave returns with a bloody good album. I've never being particularly into Nick Cave but I did enjoy some of his records around the turn of the nineties. So when a new Nick Cave album came spinning in my direction I had to spend some time deciding what would be the best use for it. Only some days later did I risk introducing it to a cd player and then only because I'd just cleared up some cat poo and was trying to think what could be worse. Enter "Dig!!! Lazurus Dig!!!" which is the title of both the new album and the single hence. The track itself is great and can be heard in the program below but the album is a bit of a corker and see's Mr Cave in great form. It may well be the last great thing he does but if so then what a way to go.
Also this week three tracks from the new album from Japanese Nintendoheads YMCK. A track from the new Clinic album which is called "Do It" and see's the scousers doing exactly the same thing they've been doing for the last ten years, but if it works in some kind of shit hot fashion then why stop? Some great pop moments from Let's Wrestle, The Bird & The Bee and O Fracas to name but three and a classic track from King Missile. You know the one, it's the one where the poor guy has lost his todger and after much searching buys it back from some trader on the street. Classic!!!

1. Let’s Wrestle - Song For Man With Pica Syndrome (Stolen) Taken From the “In Loving Memory Of…E.P.” Buy Here
2. Clinic - Tomorrow (Domino) Taken from the new album “Do It!”. Out 7th April.
3. YMCK - Major Swing (Avex) First track from this weeks featured artist. Taken from the new album “Family Genesis”.
4. Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds - Dig!!! Lazarus Dig!!! (Mute) New single by the cheerful one on which Mr Cave seems to have found a bit of mid season form. The new album which is also called “Dig!!! Lazarus Dig!!!” will be released through Mute on 3rd March. Buy Here
5. The Bird & The Bee - Birthday (Blue Note) Taken from the new “One Too Many Hearts E.P.” which was released as far as I can make out on digital formats only on Valentines Day.
6. High Places - Shared Islands (Self-Released) Taken from the album 03/07 - 09/07. This is a great record. It’s basically a compilation of singles the band have released over the past year of so. I don’t actually have any of the singles which is a shame but they certainly work well together as an album and I’m sure we’ll be hearing more from them. Remindes me of the first Adventures In Stereo album in many ways but I’m sure Jim Beattie doesn’t have anything to do with this one.
7. Excepter - Shots Ring (Paw Tracks) Taken from the bands fourth album “Debt Debt”. Out 25th March. Buy Here
8. Duels - The Healing (This Is Fake D.I.Y.) Taken from the new album “The Barbarians Move In”. Buy Here
9. Boris - Message (Diwphalanx) Taken from the album “Smile”. Out 7th March.
10. Ipso Facto - Harmonoise (Disc Error) Seven inch single. Limited to a thousand copies as well so there are only nine hundred and ninety nine left out there.
11. Pacific UV - Tremolo (Warm) Taken from the album “Longplay 2″. Buy Here
12. YMCK - Starlight (Avex) Second track from this weeks featured artist. From the album “Family Genesis”.
13. The Big Sleep - Bad Blood (French Kiss) Taken from the album “Sleep Forever”. Buy Here
14. O Fracas - Factfinding (I Can Count) This is the debut single from a new band from Leeds. It comes as a rather snazzy ten inch e.p. It’s limited to five hundred and if you get one of the first hundred you’ll find it is signed as well!!! Buy Here
15. King Missile - Detatchable Penis (Atlantic) Taken from the classic 1993 album “Happy hour”. Buy Here.
16. Shimura Curves - Just Like Friends (My Space) This is a new band as far as I know. I just stumbled across them while I was messing about on My Space last week. The thing about this track is that it has quite a lot of wah wah guitar especially in it’s later stages and I’m a right sucker for wah wah guitar. My Space Page
17. The Black Keys - Strange Times (Nonesuch) Great new single. The new album “Attack & Released” will be released on 1st April. Buy Here
18. Downliners Sekt - Kaiden (Self Released) Taken from the fantastic album “The Saltire Wave” which you can download in it’s entierety further down this page.
19. YMCK - Future Invasion (Avex)Final track from this weeks featured artist. From the album “Family Genesis”.
20. Ricardo Villalobos - Enfants (Chants) (Sei Se Drum) Yes I know it’s seventeen minutes long but you have to admit, it is a bit on the good side.

Another Sunny Day - London Weekend

I didn't realise how scarce this record was until I saw it on e-bay a couple of weeks ago changing hands for about fifty four quid. Originally released on the legendary Sarah Records (SARAH 613) in 1993 after a string of classic singles such as "I'm In Love With A Girl Who Doesn't Know I Exist", You Should All Be Murdered" and "What Happened". The band basically consisted of one Harvey Williams who seemed to do just about everything although on this album he did enlist the help of a few others including Bob Wratten and Michael Hiscock from The Field Mice. The long and short of it is that "London Weekend" is a record everyone should own, if only as audio files. I know it's always nice to have an original copy but with so few copies around and then at highly inflated prices this will just have to do.

01: Anorak City
02: I'm In Love With A Girl Who Doesn't Know I Exist
03: Things Will Be Nice
04: The Centre Of My Little World
05: What's Happened To You, My Dearest Friend?
06: Can't You Tell It's True?
07: Impossible
08: You Should All Be Murdered
09: Horseriding
10: Green
11: Rio
12: The Very Beginning
13: I Don't Suppose I'll Get A Second Chance
14: New Year's Honours

Strawberry Whiplash

Since the year dot there has always been a constant stream of good pop bands from Scotland and in particular Glasgow. Last the playlist below (playlist 48) features the latest two to come to my attention although I'm sure there is probably at least another dozen just waiting to be uncovered. Both Strawberry Whiplash and Bubblegum Lemonade (for it is they) both have new records out on Matinee Records. Perhaps the label has a whole bunch of scouts roaming the streets of Glasgow like secret agents eavesdropping on conversations in bars, phone tapping venues and torturing students until they tell their secrets. Or maybe it's just something in the porridge, leftovers from the legacy of great bands like The Jesus & Mary Chain and The Pastels. Whatever the reason Glasgow continues to churn out a constant stream of great sounding bands and for that we are all grateful. Strawberry Whiplash consist of just two people. Sandra sings and Laz plays the instruments. And together they take noise pop to a whole new level. Their new ep "Who's In Your Dreams" has just been released through Matinee Records. Buy it here.

Playlist 48

Here we go then with the 48th installment of ear sizzling goodness. This weeks featured artist is the wonderfull Be Your Own Pet whose second album "Get Awkward" is already poised to be one of the most important releases of the year. Of course we still have the new Fall to come which is now going to be called "Imperial Wax Solvent". I think it's schedueled for March release through Castle so all being well we won't have much longer to wait. Anyway back to this weeks playlist and it's fair to say that there is some pretty awsome stuff on this one. In particular the new tracks by Strawberry Whiplash and Bubblegum Lemonade are worthy of Brits...arf arf...did you watch that shambles on the telly. Nothing but a bunch of back patting caviar snorting media darlings who wouldn't know talent if Mark E Smith was stood in front of them.

1. The Jet Age - Dumb (Sonic Boomerang) Taken from the bands second album “What Did You Do During The War Daddy?”. Buy Here
2. The Pedaljets - Small Towns (Oxblood) Taken from the bands new self-titled album. Buy Here
3. Born Ruffians - Foxes Mate For Life (Warp) Taken from the new album “Red, Yellow & Blue”. Out 12th May. Buy Here
4. Autechre - Steels (Warp) Two Warp records in a row? Anyone would think we were on the payroll. This track comes from Autechres fine new album “Quaristice”. Buy Here
5. Be Your Own Pet - Twisted Nerve (XL) First track from this weeks featured artist. The album “Get Awkward” will be released through XL on 17th March. Buy Here
6. Trash Fashion - Why Can’t We Be Friends (Mason Storm’s 2 Hottie Mix) (Propaganda) The new E.P. “Why Can’t We Be Friends” should be hitting your favorite place of purchace on 10th March. Buy Here
7. Strawberry Whiplash - Who’s In Your Dreams (Matinee) One of my favorite records at this moment in time. Taken from their new “Who’s In Your Dreams E.P.” which will be released through the mighty Matinee Records on 17th March. Buy Here
8. Camera Obscura - Your Sound (And More Sound) This was the scottish popsters debut 7″ back in 1998. I think it was quite hard to get hold of for a while but it appears along with a lot of other rare Camera Obscura stuff on the album “Rare UK Bird” which was released last year through Elefant Records of Madrid. Buy Here
9. Marybell Katastrophy - Hey Frank (Merger) This is a track from the Danish bands second e.p. "You Are The Two" which will be released through Merger Records next month on both twelve inch vinyl and digital download formats.
10. Meat Beat Manifesto - Hellfire (Metropolis) Taken from the new album “Autoimmune”. Out 8th April.
11. The Dead Bodies - I Love The Way (Quite Scientific) Taken from the album “Cock Cock Cock Cock Xanadu Xanadu”.
12. Lupen Crook - Young Love (Tap n Tin) Taken from the album “Iscariot The Ladder”. Buy Here
13. Be Your Own Pet - Becky (XL) Second track from this weeks featured artist. I Can’t recommend this album enough. Buy Here
14. Vex’t - 3rd Choice (Loefar Remix) (Planet Mu)
15. The First Division - On The City (Cloudberry)
New single on the fantastic Cloudberry label. Buy Here
16. Bubblegum Lemonade - Ten Years Younger (Matinee) Bubblegum Lemonade come from Glasgow and this track comes from the bands debut E.P. for the mighty Matinee label. Limited to 1000 copies, out 17th March. Buy Here
17. Decomposure - Hour 1 (Blank Squirrel Musics) Taken from the album “Vertical Lines A”. Decomposure is basically a guy called Caleb Mueller. I think the press release will explain things a little better, thus:-"With a stack of 60-minute cassettes and tape recorder in tow Mueller recorded his average day to capture and preserve the unique sound signature that would have otherwise evaporated. Over the course of the year following that recorded day, he worked through a detailed process of digitally deconstructing each hour-long slur of sound into hundreds of individual clicks and thumps and pings. Then he built songs from them." So there you go. Out 1st May. Buy Here
18. Constantines - Hard Feelings (Arts & Crafts) New single from the Toronto based artists. Well quite new anyway. It was actually released last month as a limited edition seven inch.
19. Be Your Own Pet - You’re A Waste (XL) Final track from this weeks featured artist. The new record is called “Get Awkward” and will be avaliable from 17th March. Buy Here
20. Destroyer - Dark Leaves From A Thread (Merge) Taken from the album “Trouble In Dreams”. Out 17th March. Buy Here

Don't you just love bands which it is virtually impossible to get any info on! If you've been downloading the playlists over the last couple of months you'll already be quite familiar with Disconcerts who's "Books, Chairs, Thoughts" E.P. still gives me palpitations every time it hijaks my i-pod. They play a brand of quirky pop punk not unlike The Fire Engines or The Fall (new album coming soon!) and are playing a gig in London with These New Puritans next month which if it didn't happen to be 200 miles away I would certainly be attending. I saw These New Puritans last week and they were very good although a slightly longer set wouldn't have gone amiss. I think they played for about 28 minutes, but it was a very good 28 minutes.
The London gig is at The Metro on 20th March and if you can make it I'd like a report. Make sure you cheer loudly for Chichesters finest!

Downliners Sekt

As far as attitudes towards music go Downliners Sekt are in a class of their own. To say they are non-commercial is an understatement. It's music purely for the love of it and let's share it with everyone. Record label bosses must be scratching their heads in puzzlement of such an novel stance. I really wish more bands would see the benefits of giving music away in order to get it heard by the largest possible audience instead of being all poncy. The band have just released their second album and I must admit if I had to pay ten quid on Amazon for it I would not be dissapointed for it is a work of art. It's called "The Saltire Wave" and the band are actively encouraging people to download it and share it in any way they feel free. If you go to the bands website you can still download the first album as well which I must admit I've not heard yet but plan to do so later tonight accompanied by a nice bottle of red.

Anyway Download, Enjoy, Share...

Playlist 47

Another top quality playlist for you this week. Things are really hotting up now with 2008 shaping up to be a blinding year.

This weeks featured artist is Lemuria who come fighting out of Buffalo, New York with one hell of an album. To be honest this is the first record I've heard from the band but I'm certainly going to try and track down some of their previous stuff. Anyway this weeks playlist contains three tracks from the new album and gives a good account of the rest of the record which I hope you will consider buying when it's released on 26th February.

Please feel free to leave comments on the site. You all seem to have gone a bit quiet recently. It's always good to get some feedback about the tracks on these playlists whether it's to compliment a track or even to say what a load of bollocks it all is. While I'm on the subject you might want to have a look at Vinces My Space page which he has just set up. There's some links to Burning World in the blog section including some lists...yes that's right...LISTS...and besides he hasn't got any friends.

1. Clark - New Year Storm (Warp) Taken from the fine album “Turning Dragon”. Buy Here
2. You Slut! - Pie To The Death Faced Indie Kid (Stressed Sumo)
3. Lemuria - Lipstick (Asian Man)
First of three tracks in this program from this weeks featured artist. Lemuria come from New York and have made a truly refreshing album. Apart from the fact that there is not a bad track on here it all just sounds so…well…natural I suppose. I really hope Lemuria make the trip over to the UK soon because I can only imagine that live they will sound fantastic. The new album is called “Get Better” and until I had a look at their My Space page and it seems there is a previous album called “The First Collection” which I guess is fairly self explanitary but the point is that I don’t own it and until I do I will remain tormented by the possibility that I am missing out on some great stuff. Buy Here
4. Orphan Boy - The Salesman (Concrete) Taken from the album “Shop Local” Out 7th April but I still can’t find a place where you can pre-order it.
5. Somatic Responses - Human Bass (Hymen) Taken from the album “Digital Darkness”. The band consists of two brothers John and Paul Healy. According to their website they seem to have released (or at least being involved in) millions of records over the last few years. This however is the first thing I’ve heard from them and it sounds like a bloody good place to start. Buy Here
6. Fuck Buttons - Bright Tomorrow (ATP) The album is called “Street Horrrsing” and will be an essential part of your record collection for years to come, sublime….Out 17th March. Buy Here
7. Pacific UV - Need (Warm) Taken from the bands second album which they have cunningly titled “Longplay 2″. I don't think I have a copy of the first album and may well have to find one. Buy Here.
8. Superman Revenge Squad - Idiot Food (God Is In The TV) Another track from the forthcoming free downloadable single by the wonderfully named Superman Revenge Squad. I’m thinking I need a t-shirt bearing that moniker before I’m very much older. The single will be released through the God In The TV singles club which in itself is a great idea and I hope to see many more of this kind of singles club in the near future. All three tracks should be avaliable by the time you read this. It’s supposed to be released on 18th February but regardless there are some great previous singles there by the likes of Time.Space.Repeat, The Sailplanes and Small Crew who were featured on this site not so long ago. Website Here
9. The Ruling Class - Sleeping Beauty (Fandango) Check ou the bands My Space Page for more details.
10. Lemuria - Pants (Asian Man) Second track from this weeks featured artist. Can’t get enough of this album. Out 26th February. Buy Here
11. Be Your Own Pet - The Kelly Affair (XL) You may remember back in 2006 I was banging on rather enthusiasticly about the debut album by Nashville’s Be Your Own Pet. I still regard their self-titled debut as one of the best records of recent years. So now they are about to hit us with their second album “Get Awkward” which will be released through XL on 18th March. It’s always hard to follow a brilliant debut with anything that measures up to the expectation but Be Your Own Pet have done themselves proud. I’ve heard the album five times now and it just gets better every time. The band are playing some gigs around the UK at the end of March, see the bands My Space page for more details. I’ll certainly be making the effort to get to at least one of them. Buy Here
As for the odds on Be Your Own Pet being next weeks featured artist……. you can bet your left testical they will!!!
12. Astrid Williamson - World At Your Feet (One Little Indian) Taken from the album “Boy For You” which will be re-issued next month. Originally released in 1997 it was the debut album from the former Goya Dress singer. I must confess I missed it first time round so… better eleven years late than never. Buy Here
13. Eskimo - Residents
14. Gorinhaled - Symphony Of The Depraved (Nice To Eat You) Taken from the album “The Art Of Sickness”. I think this album is probably avaliable now but again I’m not sure where to find one. Well worth tracking down though.
15. The Flashbulb - Leaving Georgia (Alphabasic) Taken from the album “Soundtrack To A Vacant Life”. There are no less than thirty one tracks on this album and to be fair it does drive you a bit potty if you consume it all in one go. There is some excellent stuff on here though and despite being from Chicago the band will be playing at the Bangface Weekender at Camber Sands on 26th April. Buy Here
16. Downliners Sekt - Panic! Sonic Monk (Self-Released) Oh my word!! I just think this is almost too good. This track comes from the new Downliners Sekt album “The Saltire Wave”. This band are about as non commercial as they come because they are quite happy to give al their music away for free which is a damn fine attitude in my opinion. The bands previous two albums are also avaliable for nowt on their website and I’m really looking forward to hearing them. Download Here
17. Marybell Katastrophy - Hip (Merger) This track comes from the bands first E.P. “This Is The One” which was released back in December. I really like the sound of this lot and there will be a track in next weeks program from the bands new E.P. “You Are The Two” which will be released next month. I think we’ll be keeping an eye on this band, they sound as if they’ll either do really well or break into your house and nick your record collection.
18. Let’s Wrestle - I Won’t Lie To You (Stolen) Taken from the London bands latest release “In Loving Memory Of… EP”. I can see this bunch making a few waves this year. Buy Here
19. Lemuria - Wardrobe (Asian Man) Third and final track from tis weeks featured artist. The album “Get Better” will be avaliable from 26th February. Buy Here
20. Tim Vanhamel - Until I Find You (Loud Tongues) Taken from the album “Welcome To The Blue House”.

Playlist 46

1. Ketchup Mania - Welcome To Paradise (Download)
2. Sambassadeur - Final Say (Labrador)
New single from the Gothenburg quartet. Lifted from last years album “Migration”. Buy Here
3. Goodtimes Goodtimes - Kids (Unsigned) First track from this weeks featured artist. Goodtimes Goodtimes come from London and is basically the work of Franc Cinelli who despite living in London is as Italian as his name suggests. Three more tracks before the end of the program. Website
4. Cazals - To Cut A Long Story Short (Vicarius Bliss Dance Mix) (Kitsune) I think this is the best mix of the current single. Buy Here
5. Thee Outlaws - What’s Your Problem (Download) I dunno. I jussdiggit.
6. Die Die Die - Blue Skies (SAF) Taken from the album “Promises Promises”. Buy Here. All the way from New Zealand they are going to be playing some gigs in the UK in April. I recommend you try and catch them as you never know when they will pass this way again.
2nd April : Leeds - Josephs Well
3rd April : Manchester - Roadhouse
4th April : Birmingham - Rainbow
5th April : Liverpool - Evol
7th April : Brighton - Ocean Rooms
8th April : London - Artrocker @ Buffalo Bar
7. James Severy - Do The Circus Circus (Art Goes Pop) This is going to be released as a Ltd edition 7" single on 25th February. Apparently the single will come with free CD called "Eighteen Minutes At The Circus Circus" which I would love to hear. Buy Here
8. Goodtimes Goodtimes - Desire (Unsigned) Second track from this weeks featured artist. Website
9. The Bugs - Fuckin’ A Right (Hovercraft) I went to see these just last week. Well that’s not entierly true, I actually went to see Trumans Water and The Bugs were supporting them. Consisting of just two people (one of whom is actually in Trumans Water) they make a great noise. Vince very kindly bought me the album while we were there, 180 grams of top quality vinyl no less and every track is a winner. I’ve got a seven inch as well which I haven’t heard as yet but I’ll get around to that sometime this week and possibly put a track in next weeks program. I strongly advise you to try and catch this band while they’re in the country cos they really are great fun. Buy Here
10. Bromheads Jacket - Poppy Bird (Marquis Cha Cha) Taken from the 2006 album “Dits From The Commuter Belt”. I think it’s about time we had some new stuff from this bunch of reprabates. Buy Here
11. Taken By Cars - The Blackout (Party Bear) Taken from the album “Endings Of A New Kind”.
12. mmfan316 - Communication Breakdown (555) This is actually one of Vince’s CD’s. He sent away for a load of 555 and Red Square Records stuff and this is one of the items which arrived. Released in 1992 this is the first I’ve heard from mmfan316 (great name by the way). It reminds me a bit of Kid 606 and it’s high time we had some more stuff from him as well.
13. I Was A Cub Scout - We Were Born To Love You (Rough Trade) Yes I know they’re press darlings and everything but then so were The Fall at one point and they survived unscathed. The debut album is called “I Want You To Know That There Is Always Hope” and will hit the shops on 18th February. Buy Here
14. Goodtimes Goodtimes - Sea Shanty (Unsigned) Third track from this weeks featured artist.
15. Folklaw - The Vet () This is a track I keep coming back to. Is it just me or is this almost exactly the same tune as Carter USMs “Say It With Flowers” from the “30 Something” album.
16. Clinic - Free Not Free (Domino) New single. You can download this for free just by going HERE
17. The Grand Archives - Sleepdriving (Sub Pop) Taken from the album “The Grand Archives”. Out 18th February. Buy Here.
18. See See Rider - Snowfall (Lazy) I had almost forgotten abot See See Rider. As far as I’m aware they only released two four track E.P.s, both on the legendary Lazy Records. This track comes from the first of those releases simply entitled the See See Rider E.P. was released back in 1990.
19. Born Ruffians - Barnacle Goose (Warp) Taken from the brilliant new album “Red Yellow & Blue”. I’ve just played this three times in a row. We’re only in February and already we have had five albums which can only be called classics and we still have the new Fall album to come. Out 12th May. Buy Here.
20. Goodtimes Goodtimes - Sunshine (Unsigned) Final track from this weeks featured artist. I’m sure this wont be the last we’ll be hearing from them.

Playlist 45

1. Muttonheads - Ready (Serial) 12″ single. Buy Here
2. Supermans Revenge Squad - Everyones Dead (God Is In The TV) This is a track from the latest free download release on the wonderful God Is In The TV singles club. The e.p. is called “Idiot Food” and will be avaliable for download from 18th February. In the meantime if you pop along to the God Is In The TV website you can still download the previous three singles club releases. Go Here
3. Correcto - New Capitals (Domino) Taken from the bands debut album. Out 25th February. Buy Here
4. Orphan Boy - Middle Class Roots (Concrete) Orphan come from just down the road in Grimsby, a place I must admit I’ve only ever been to once. It was a couple of years when I was persuaded against my better judgement to go and see Morrissey. I have to admit that it turned out to be a really good gig and a good time was had by all until we got outside and realised that we had left our mobile phones back at the hotel and were not able to call a taxi to get back there. Being a bloke my sense of direction is quite poor and after two hours of walking around Grimsby, and not the nice parts of Grimsby either I finally had to knock on some poor old mans door, scare him half to death and request if it might be possible to use his phone. I haven’t been back to Grimsby since. This of course has nothing whatsoever to do with Orphan Boy whose debut album is a bit of a blinder. It’s called “Shop Local” and will be released on 7th April. The band will be playing up and down the country over the next couple of months. See their My Space page for more details.
5. Times New Viking - The Early 80’s (Matador) First track from this weeks featured artist. This comes from the bands new album “Rip It Off”. Apparently this is not their first release. I’ll have to try and track down their earlier work because I doubt that sleep will come easily until the complete works of Times New Viking are in my possession. Buy Here
6. Clark - Violenl (Warp) Taken from the fine new album “Turning Dragon”. There are a few British dates coming up this month:-
8th February - Glasgow, The Art School
15th February - London, Corsica Studios
16th February - Manchester, Sequence @ Paradise Factory
The album “Turning Dragon” was released last week through Warp Records. Buy Here
7. Louis XIV - Guilt By Assosiation (Atlantic) Taken from the album “Slick Dogs & Ponies”. Buy Here
8. Blood On The Wall - Go Go Go (Social Registry) Taken from the album “Liferz”. Buy Here
9. Peter Tosh - Brand New Second Hand (Columbia) Taken from the 1976 album “Legalise It”. Buy Here
10. Fuck Buttons - Okay, Let’s Talk About Magic (ATP) I must admit when this album finally turned up I almost had a seizure with exitement. The missus doesn’t get it though. She say’s that it sounds like someone been driven slowly demented, which is an idea that I quite like. If this is the sound of madness then I must be one f**ked up git. The album is called “Street Horrrsing” and if I had one critisism it would be that there are just six tracks on it. I know with the average track being about ten minutes long it’s about perfect but still… I WANT MORE!!! I know, that’s just being greedy. “Street Horrrsing” will be released on 17th March through ATP. Buy Here
11. Radar Bros - Happy Spirit (Chemikal Underground) Taken from the new Radar Bros album “Auditorium” which came as a total suprise to me because I actually thought the band were no more. It seems I was wrong as usual (something I make a habit of) and here they are with a new record. To be honest I don’t think this album is quite as strong as some of their previous work but there are enough gems on here to make it well worth the price of admission. “Auditorium” will be released through the legendary Chemikal Underground on 25th February. Buy Here
12. Times New Viking - Drop Out (Matador) Second track from this weeks featured artist. Buy Here
13. Ott - 382 Seaside (Twisted) Taken from the forthcoming album “Skylon” which hit the shops just last week. Buy Here
14. Dananananaykroyd - Cleaning Each Other (Jealous) Can’t tell you very much about this really. Apart from having a name which is a bastard to spell they go and record a top notch e.p. which doesn’t seem to have a release date. The e.p. is called “Sissy Hits” and is supposed to be getting released through Jealous Records but according to some sources on the internet the label is a bit short money and can’t afford to do it right now. I’m not sure how much truth there is in that but this record does need to get out there because it’s just too good not to. Perhaps someone should burn a box full and distribute them via a fleet of steroid fueled carrier pigeons.
15. Pooh Sticks - Indiepop Ain’t Noise Pollution (Fierce)
16. Autechre - Plyphon (Warp)
You always know what to expect from Autechre yet they never fail to impress. They seem to have been doing this for a very long time and they still sound like they have a sack full of new ideas just waiting to be poured out. The new album is called “Quaristice” and will be released through the legendary Warp Records on 3rd March. Buy Here
17. Pete & The Pirates - Knots (Stolen) Taken from the album “Little Death”. Out 18th February. Buy Here
18. Lemuria - Buzz (Asian Man) I’m really quite exited about this lot. The album “Get Better” is brilliant and will be avaliable from 26th February. Buy Here
19. Times New Viking - Off The Wall (Matador) Final track from this weeks featured artist. Taken from the album “Rip It Off”. Buy Here
20. The Reverse - My Lifelong Psychological Experiment (Run Out) Excellent new single. Buy Here
