The Voices

One album which has impressed me particularly recently is the new album from a band called The Voices. It sounds something like a head on collision between Spacemen 3 and My Bloody Valentine with Slowdive turning up to clear up the carnage. The first track "As Long As I Die Before You I'll Survive" is seven minutes of fuzzed up distorted perfection. As if that's not enough the next track "Evermore" could almost have been pulled straight from "Isn't Anything". Pure bliss.
I must confess I know absolutely nothing about the band but I highly recommend you track down a copy.

Record Box

It's been a while since I last did a Record Box so here goes.

Sennen finally have a release avaliable. It's called the "Widows EP" and is a seven track piece of pure wonderment. If you like Ride you'll love this.

Fridge are one of those bands that you just don't hear enough of. Avante Gard does'nt quite describe them but with song titles like "Surface Noise & Electric Piano" I'm sure you catch my drift.

Sennen - Opened Up My Arms

Greenspace are a band who have recently come to my attention. As far as I can make out they come from the lovely City of Newcastle and make one hell of a fantastic racket. They released a self titled mini album last year through Space Badger and I hope for great things this year. I'll tell you more as I find out.
Anyway they've got a tour coming up and I strongly advise you to make an effort to catch up with them.

Brighton

I don't hear nearly enough records from Australia and to be perfectly honest the ones I do hear tend to be somewhat disappointing. Brighton come from Brisbane, Australia and from what I've heard so far could well be one of the best bands in the country with their hard edged angular guitars sharp enough to gouge your eyes out. Signed to White Horse Records they've got a release due out in the near future. I just hope it's going to be available outside Australia.

Brighton - Other World

Brighton - Through My Eyes

The Electric Mainline

This band could well turn out to be one of the gems of 2006. The Electric Mainline come from London and sound like a very early Boo Radleys with their fuzzed up guitars and washed out vocals. Apparently there's going to be an EP in the not to distant future and I greatly look forward to hearing it.

Here's two tracks from their current demo. There's a couple more on their My Space page HERE

The Electric Mainline - We Are Now
