This time of year always reminds me of the so called "shoegazer" movement of the early ninety's. Atmospheric, swirling walls of sound which never failed to bring tears to my eyes. It seemed almost every week there was a new band to love, or at least look out for. Classic twelve inch ep's by the likes of, The Pale Saints, Ride, The Telescopes, Slowdive, Lush, Revolver etc...just kept appearing on the new release shelf of my local vinyl emporium.
I listened to these bands (amongst others) through the autumn and winter of 1990 and onwards.
It would be easy to call "shoegazing" a short lived creation of the music press who gave it that awful name, but the fact is that almost fifteen years later there are still new bands appearing who can still bring tears to my eyes.
